Honoring Don Seiden
The Department of Art Therapy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Master of Arts in Art Therapy
program. From a few classes offered in the 1970s through the
Department of Art Education and a brief trial period when a
post-baccalaureate certificate was offered, the MAAT degree was launched
in 1985. An early teaching affiliation with Rush Medical School helped
convince the SAIC administration that such a degree was viable and
today as an independent department we are among the oldest and largest
of the MA programs at the school with approximately 500 graduates. All
of this has been made possible by the pioneering vision of our founder
Don Seiden and the creative contributions of the many talented
instructors who have been part of our faculty over the years.
We would love for you to join us in celebrating this milestone on Friday, October 10th from 6 to 9 pm in the school's LeRoy Neiman Center at 37 S. Wabash. You can RSVP at saicmaaters@gmail.com.
We recognize most of you have relocated all around the country in the
intervening years (literally Hawaii to Florida) yet we wanted to reach
out in acknowledgement and gratitude. This small film by alumna Mary Andrus will give those of you who cannot make the opening a sense of the evening's program.
